Megan Wadsworth

Counsellor MBACP

 Hello, I’m Megan. Welcome.

I hope you find what you're looking for here. As an American who has lived in the UK for over 20 years, I’ve witnessed a heartening shift in attitudes toward counselling. The stigma around mental health has lessened, and it’s exciting to be part of this positive change.

I believe everyone can benefit from counselling at some point in their life. I offer a warm, empathetic space where you can talk through your concerns and find solutions that feel right for you.

You may be struggling with depression or anxiety brought on by circumstances beyond your control. Perhaps you’ve just left — or are considering leaving — an abusive relationship, and you're doubting your inner voice or struggling to hear it at all. Maybe there’s an unresolved trauma you need to process.

Whatever your worries, I offer a truly non-judgemental environment where you can sort through your thoughts and feelings. Unlike friends or family, I bring no preconceived ideas about who you are. I walk with you into the grey areas — the ones that can feel especially confusing — and help you navigate toward clarity.

Areas of Expertise

Domestic Abuse, Sexual Violence, Trauma, Coercive Control, Depression and Anxiety

Specialist Counselling for Trauma, Abuse, and Mental Health

I specialise in supporting individuals who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence, including those who have survived high-control groups such as cults and other coercive environments. My work is rooted in deep understanding and compassion for those navigating the aftermath of trauma, whether recent or long past.

In addition to this specialist focus, I offer support to those who have experienced other forms of crime-related trauma. I am trained in pre-trial therapy and understand how to work ethically and sensitively alongside ongoing or potential legal proceedings, ensuring the therapeutic process complements, rather than compromises, the justice journey.

Beyond trauma-specific work, I provide counselling for a range of mental health concerns, including:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Self-harm

  • Suicidal ideation

  • Family and relational issues

  • Bereavement and grief

  • And many other emotional and psychological difficulties

Importantly, therapy is not only for those in crisis. Many people seek counselling simply to better understand themselves, explore thoughts and feelings, or make meaningful life changes. Speaking with a trained professional can help you hear your own voice more clearly—and may prevent deeper struggles from taking root.

I welcome clients from all walks of life, and I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for:

  • Members of the LGBTQ+ community

  • Neurodivergent individuals

  • Anyone aged 16 and above

Life Experience

One of the most profound elements of my training has been my own experience in the counselling room—as a client. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of the therapeutic process. I know it can be challenging, but I also know how deeply life-changing it can be.

I approach my work with compassion, integrity, and authenticity. I never ask clients to explore anything I haven’t been willing to explore myself. I understand the weight of what therapy can hold, and I consider it an honour to be invited to walk alongside you on your journey.
